How should I go about learning Spanish?

I do not think there is one right answer for everyone, it all depends on our preferences and specific language needs.

Some people might prefer to learn grammar first, before they start speaking the language, or speak and avoid learning grammar. One thing is for sure, you need to put into practice what you learn to make sure you are understanding it.

For example, if you just want to learn grammar and vocabulary, you need to use it in context. Write and speak the language. Organize your sentences and ideas.  Live the language. Don’t worry about making mistakes, it is part of the learning process.

Here are some facts on how adults remember what we learn:

learners retain approximately:
90% of what they learn when they teach someone else/use immediately.
75% of what they learn when they practice what they learned.
50% of what they learn when engaged in a group discussion.
30% of what they learn when they see a demonstration.
20% of what they learn from audio-visual.
10% of what they learn when they’ve learned from reading.
5% of what they learn when they’ve learned from lecture.
